Are You a Gay? You Can Be a Cosulate General!

Even with the improving image of gays and lesbians, it is not
common for the US political/government figures to publicly announce
their sexual orientation as gays or lesbians. As a matter of fact,
I do not know any gay politician except for Harvey Milk of San
Francisco who was assassinated at the age of forty-eight. Yet, I
have just learned about Patrick J. Linehan, a consulate general for
the US Embassy in Osaka, Japan who is publicly known as a gay and
married to a male partner.

It is, without any doubt, a good news. Not to mention he seems
happy with his partner living in Japan where the pubic seems to be
accepting about diverse sexual orientation as he puts it, what a
good news, I think, is the fact that Mr. Linehan works with high
responsibility in the US government. Hopefully, we can see more
people like Mr. Linehan in next years to come!
